Have you tried losing weight but nothing seems to work? Do you eat uncontrollably under stress? Is money the problem and you want to enroll in a weight loss program? Then you might want to consider FA-Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous, a program that will help you free your obsession with food.
FA is an organization of recovery and the fellowship of others who have the same problem with addictive eating. Food Addicts in recovery anonymous is based on the Twelve Step program similar to Alcoholics Anonymous principles. There are no dues or fees and is open to all who want to make a lifestyle change to free themselves from their food addiction.
I made a meeting about 2 years ago with a client and I was quite impressed. The meeting was on a Saturday morning and consisted of a small group of people who looked like they didn't need to lose weight. I found out later most of the people there had lost 50 to 100 pounds. They told me they make a weekly meeting to keep their food addiction in check. You get a sponsor and make the commitment to give up sugar and white flour. My client wasn't ready to take that step and didn't join FA. She is still struggling with her weight.
Are you a food addict? Go to the FA site to find out. I found that I can answer yes to one of the questions. They asked do you eat when you are not hungry, well, I think they mean constantly because I know most of us have eaten this way at one time or another.
One great thing about FA, there are chapters found in many countries outside of North America. FA is in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, France, Japan, Israel, New Zealand, South Africa and Germany. If your country or your town in the US isn't listed, contact the FA office in the US.
Do you know anyone with a food addiction? Are you overweight and would you consider FA as a means to get your weight under control?
